While you may or may not enjoy the taste of papaya, you should be aware of the numerous ways it can help your health and immunity. Nature provides certain fruits and vegetables that nourish you from within and aid in the treatment of certain common health issues. One such fruit is papaya, which has numerous health benefits whether eaten raw, ripe, or cooked. One small papaya contains approximately 300% of the daily value for the immune-boosting vitamin C. It is also high in beta-carotene and antioxidants, which protect your body from free radical damage and improve the health of your skin and hair. Papaya contains of a powerful enzyme that secretes collagen, that is an important component of the skin that keeps it healthy and supple. Collagen helps to reduce wrinkles and keep the skin hydrated. Other antioxidants in papaya work as an anti-aging and moisturizing agent by inhibiting free radical production. Packed with goodness and umpteen benefits, papaya is the cure to most of your hair woes - be it hair fall, dandruff, or damaged hair.
Let’s dive into the benefits of papaya for your skin and hair:
- For hair:
- Adds shine to your hair: Cuticle strengthening is one of the prominent benefits of papaya. Cuticles are the outermost layer of the hair shaft and keeping them healthy is important for adding shine to your hair. Papaya makes sure to nourish them and adds an enviable shine to your strands.
- Manages production of sebum: Papaya benefits for hair also include the production of sebum. Sebum is your body’s natural oil, and sebum production keeps your hair conditioned and hydrated. Papaya helps to regulate sebum that nourishes, strengthens, and protects your hair.
- Controls dandruff: One of the primary causes of dandruff is a fungal infection. And papaya’s antifungal properties help control and prevent dandruff, itchy scalp, dryness, flaking and more. Moreover, papaya is made of components that heal concerns such as breakage, split ends, and hair loss.
- For skin:
- Moisturizes and nourishes your skin: Can papaya and products containing it help with skin dryness? Sure! Among the many skin benefits of papaya juice, deep moisturizing and nourishment should not be overlooked. Products containing papaya may transform dry and flaky skin into soft, hydrated, and glowing skin due to vitamins A and E.
- Deep cleanses skin: Papaya also helps to clean the pores and brighten the skin. It also improves skin tone by penetrating the skin's inner layers and thoroughly removing dirt and excess oil discharges.
- Lightens dark spots and treats tan: Papaya can also help lighten skin spots and remove tan. The enzyme papain can be used to treat darkened skin patches such as acne scars or dark elbows and knees.
- Fights acne: Papaya fruit can be used to treat blemishes, pimples, acne, and blackheads. Skin products containing papaya reduce inflammation, gently exfoliate skin, and unclog pores thanks to papain and chymopapain enzymes. They can also remove dead skin cells and buildup to aid in the prevention of acne in its early stages.
